About the Club
Peverill's Orchard The Stowmarket Railway Club was founded in 1977 with the aim of stimulating interest in both Railways and Model Railways by arranging meetings, slide shows, talks, etc about Railways, and by providing facilities for the building and operation of Model Railways. We are also compiling an archive of information on the changing railway scene over the years, which concentrates on the section of line between Needham Market and Haughley Junction. Outdoor visits to places of railway interest are also arranged during the summer.

An evening visit to a Garden Railway near Stowmarket

The club also organises a Model Railway Exhibition at the end of April each year, and two Toy & Train fairs (or Swapmeets) in March and October. Details of these events can be found on the Exhibition and Toy and Train Fair pages of this site.

The Club meets every Tuesday evening throughout the year. We have recently moved to new clubrooms near Stowmarket, which we have nearly finished refurbishing, and which we hope will give us a good home for many years to come.

The new clubrooms as we first saw them

Our 'normal' activities have been in suspense whilst we sorted out the new clubrooms, but we have recently re-commenced a limited programme, and the full programme will resume as soon as we have finished the last of the refurbishment. A sample of our typical programme of meetings can be found here

Refurbishment work in progress!

On the modelling front we have an O Gauge exhibition layout and have recently purchased a OO gauge layout which is being setup as a permanent installation in our clubroms. We are also considering commencing new modelling projects in both N and OO gauge.
